Ice Cores and Cheap Flights - October Sustainability Insights
Here's what tutor Nigel Clark has enjoyed listening to, reading and watching on sustainability over the past month:
PwC’s Global Sustainability Reporting Survey 2025 - From insight to value: The sustainability reporting journey continues
When what you read in the news suggests companies are pulling back from their sustainability commitments, it's good to see an authoritative report, such as this one from PwC, say otherwise. Although the research is based on responses from big companies, there are insights and learning here for all organisations link.
Trailblazers & Transformers: UK Business Sectors Redefining Sustainability
We've long supported the use of the SDGs to help frame any organisation's sustainability strategy so if you're looking to re-energise yours then I'd recommend this recent report from the UN Global Compact Network UK which provides 'A sector-by-sector analysis of UK business progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)' link.
Green Procurement Playbook: The CPO’s Guide to Delivering Value for Business and Planet
My third recommendation this month for improving your sustainability strategy is this World Economic Forum playbook, produced in collaboration with Kearney, on greeening your supply chain and Scope 3 impacts. It's designed for Chief Procurement Officers (CPOs) but has lots of practical stuff for sustainability professionals too link.
6 (short) videos to help sustainability pros take their careers to the next level
I'm always looking for good advice to pass on to sustainability professionals looking to improve or update their work-based skills, so was delighted to see this set of videos put together by Trellis Group . They're all worth watching but in particular the one on 'Talking about Climate Change' link.
What do ice cores tells us about climate change?
I've long been fascinated about how we understand our atmosphere and climate over many hundreds of thousands of years from studying ice cores, so if you're similarly interested then listen to this BBC 'The Climate Question' podcast link.
Cheap Flights: What They Really Mean for You
And also from the BBC (and recommended by one of our sustainability apprentices), a programme on all aspects of flying, what it means for our planet and whether there is anything we can do to mitigate the impact link.
