Overview: CIM Diploma in Professional and Digital Marketing 

The CIM Diploma in Professional and Digital Marketing qualification is suited to marketers with over 2 years of experience and looking for their next step in their career.

This marketing course can be completed in 9 months, and learners will need to pass 4 modules to gain a full CIM Level 6 qualification. At the end of the training, all learners will be confident marketers with skills in strategy, planning and branding. The range of elective modules lets students choose the topics that best match their interests and future career plans.

Entry criteria and support

  • A relevant Level 4 qualification, such as the CIM Certificate of Professional Marketing; or,
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with at least one-third of credits coming from marketing content (120 credits in a Bachelor's degree or 60 credits in a Master’s): or
  • 2+ years’ marketing experience in an operational role plus a diagnostic assessment
  • If English is not your first language, you will need to demonstrate English language proficiency (IELTS Academic Modules overall score of 6.5 or equivalent

We recommend a minimum of 9 months for Diplomas. To allow you to fit studying around other commitments, we offer support for 24 months for CIM qualifications and 6 months for CIM Modular Awards.

Strategy and Planning Module:

  • Understand the organisation’s priorities, purpose, direction and their impact on marketing strategy
  • Understand how insights drawn from marketing audits inform the marketing plan
  • Develop a strategic marketing plan to deliver an organisation’s objectives
  • Understand how to align supporting plans to the marketing plan in delivering marketing objectives.
  • Develop an implementation plan to achieve objectives
  • Critically evaluate the results of measurements applied in plans to recommend continuous improvements

 

  •   On-screen plan submission, 3 essay-style questions (between 250-500 words) and 20 multiple-choice questions. The assessment duration totals 120 minutes.

Societal Impact Module:

  • Understand the changing societal and environmental landscape and what that means for business and society
  • Understand how marketing can align and support the business, societal and environmental agendas
  • Understand the process of long-term planning to implement societal change and measure results

  •   Assessed by a multiple choice on-screen exam which lasts 90 minutes. This exam has 45 questions in total.

Brand Proposition Module:

  • Understand how to develop propositions that differentiate the organisation
  • Understand how the brand supports the proposition
  • Determine the factors that drive brand identity and strategy for success

 

  •   Assessed by a multiple choice on-screen exam which lasts 90 minutes. This exam has 45 questions in total.

  • Identify the application of AI within marketing
  • Understand the challenges of AI within the business environment
  • Understand how to plan the utilisation of AI in marketing activities

  • Utilise research methods for organic & paid search
  • Understand how paid search is managed
