Rod has extensive sales and marketing and business development experience in both the manufacturing and service sectors. After graduation he joined Tay Textiles Ltd as an Export Sales Administrator before joining British Steel (now Corus) first as Area Sales Manager before being promoted to Marketing Strategy Manager responsible for British Steel's UK and international strategy across its range of product-market areas, and then to Investment Manager (Scotland). Rod then moved into the banking sector working for Clydesdale Bank (within the National Australia Group - NAG) as a Business Banking Manager with a portfolio of 150 SME clients. During this time he was seconded to the NAG Business Banking Insurance Project where he was responsible for the overall pilot and launch strategy, product positioning, segmentation, packaging, branding, strategic fit and co-ordination of training; and to the NAG Credit Policy project. Since then Rod has undertaken consultancy work including a project for Glasgow City Council. Rod has an MA, a postgraduate diploma in Export Marketing, and an MBA from Strathclyde University. He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, holds the Institute's postgraduate diploma and is working towards Chartered Marketer status. Rod lives in Scotland and teaches at our Edinburgh Study Centre.
