My name is Xavier Andrew, and I work as a Multimedia Content Creator at Cambridge Marketing College. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to work in the marketing industry, or if you’re considering this career path yourself, I thought I’d give you a glimpse into my world. No two days are the same here, and that’s what makes it so exciting. From brainstorming big campaigns to the small everyday moments that make the job fun, here’s a peek into one of my days.

9:00 am – The Start of the Day

The day always begins with our morning meeting. Coffee in hand, I settle in with the team as we run through priorities, share updates, and map out what’s ahead. It’s more than just a checklist; it’s a moment to connect, align, and ease into the rhythm of the day before the creative chaos properly begins. There’s always a mix of focus and humour, which sets a positive tone and makes even the busiest days feel manageable.

9:30 am - Getting Set for the Day

Not long after, I take a little time to organise my workspace and update my to-do list. It’s a simple ritual, but it clears my head and sets me up for the rest of the day. With everything in order and my priorities mapped out, I feel ready to dive into the work that excites me the most.

10:00 am – Project Brainstorming

Today’s focus is on a big project. With a notebook open beside me, I sketch out initial ideas and think about visuals that might cut through the noise. Later in the morning, I sat down with Camilla, my manager, for one of our bounce-back sessions. We throw ideas around some brilliant, some laughable, and some are over-the-top, but that’s the beauty of brainstorming. It’s a space where creativity isn’t judged, just explored, and by the end of our session, we’ve pinned down a direction that feels both exciting and fresh.

12:00 am – Creative Energy Crash

By midday, my creative spark suddenly fizzles out. It feels like someone pulled the plug on my brain. Of course, creativity doesn’t always flow on demand. Instead of forcing it, I take a short screen break, grab some water, and clear my head. When I come back, I shift gears to a writing task. Drafting captions, fine-tuning copy and shaping content feels like a refreshing change of pace, and it helps me keep momentum without burning out. It’s a reminder that productivity often comes from knowing when to push and when to pause.

1:00 pm – Lunchtime Revelations

Lunch is always a highlight of the day. We gather around the table, share stories, and laugh over the most random things. Conversations usually spiral into the kind of silly tangents that leave everyone in stitches. It’s not just about food, it’s about the camaraderie and the sense of being part of a team that genuinely enjoys working together. One thing I’ve noticed, though, is how healthy everyone’s lunches are. Salads, wraps, fresh fruit and then there’s me, unwrapping a bacon sandwich like I’ve smuggled contraband. It was an eye-opener, and I’ve promised myself I’ll bring something healthier tomorrow. That said, I think bacon sandwiches will remain a Saturday treat; balance, after all, is just as important as discipline. I really admire the people I’m working with; they’re such an amazing bunch, and I feel constantly supported and encouraged. It makes tackling challenges and chasing creative ideas so much more enjoyable, and I genuinely look forward to collaborating with them every day.

2:00 pm – Afternoon Flow

The afternoon settles into a steady rhythm. I polish up visuals, refine campaign drafts, and update the content calendar. There’s something satisfying about seeing all the moving parts come together; creative work sharpened, messaging fine-tuned, and plans mapped out in a way that feels achievable. It’s the behind-the-scenes detail that keeps everything running smoothly, even if the result looks effortless on the surface.

4:30 pm – Wrapping Up

As the day winds down, I take one last look at the projects I’ve touched on: creative drafts, captions written, visuals tweaked. It feels good to know things are moving forward. I jot down tomorrow’s to-do list (and maybe “Buy healthier lunch” at the top).

5:00 pm – Done for the Day

By the end of the day, I feel that mix of tiredness and accomplishment that comes from creative work. Some ideas are still bubbling away, ready for tomorrow, but plenty have been ticked off the list. It’s one of those days that reminds me why I enjoy this role so much; it’s not just about campaigns and content, but the mix of collaboration, problem-solving, and little moments of humour that shape the day.
