Course overview

The aims of this programme are to develop your strategic skills in: assessing strategic options, justifying decisions including financial assessments, appraising and managing a corporate brand, and creating entrepeneurial change.

Cambridge Marketing College has been teaching this high level qualification since 1991, and it is the foundation for our reputation of quality teaching. This new syllabus was launched in 2018 and continues to offer high level marketing knowledge.

This qualification is only available to students resident outside the UK.

Entry criteria

  • CIM Professional Diploma in Marketing
  • OR CIM Advanced Certificate in Marketing
  • OR CIM Digital Diploma in Professional Marketing
  • OR a business or marketing Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or an equivalent qualification) where a minimum of half of the credits come from marketing modules
  • AND a range of experience working (normally three years) at Senior Marketing Management level that has provided potential candidates with ability to evidence that they can meet the learning outcomes for the CIM Professional Diploma in marketing if required
  • PLUS IELTS Academic Modules with an overall score of 6.5 (each component pass mark must be 6.0 or above)
  • OR Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English grade B or above (achieved within the last 2 years if English is not your first language)

Course modules:

Global Marketing Decisions Mandatory

Study hours: 200

This module will prepare you to undertake a strategic audit of a global organisation and assess its capability and capacity to deliver across a range of business and marketing strategies before making recommendations, based on a full critical evaluation (including risk and financial assessment) of the various options available. 

You will be able to: 

  • Develop an audit of the external marketing environment
  • Develop an audit of the internal marketing environment
  • Critically assess strategic marketing options
  • Appraise strategic options available to a growing global organisation
  • Critically assess and justify strategic marketing decisions, including financial assessment
  • Evaluate corporate and reputational risk of strategic marketing decisions

Assessment: A 3 hour examination based on a pre-seen case study. You will be required to do preparatory work on the case study.

Corporate Digital Communications Mandatory

Study hours: 200

This module will enable you to critically appraise the corporate brand and the importance of digital communications in developing corporate positioning and building brand equity. You will be able to recommend and justify digital channels and tools effectively to support corporate reputation.

You will be able to: 

  • Identify key stakeholders and their influence
  • Determine the role for corporate reputation management in organisations
  • Critically appraise the contribution of the corporate brand in maintaining and developing the corporate positioning
  • Assess the role of corporate reputation in supporting and building brand equity
  • Appraise trends and innovation in the digital experience
  • Evaluate the effective use of integrated channels to support corporate reputation

Assessment: Organisation based assignment

Creating Entrepreneurial Change Mandatory

Study hours: 200

The new constant is a disruptive state of flux and winning managers will be those who embrace entrepreneurship and create transformational change and value for their organisation. You will investigate the dynamics of innovation and change, and identify the key learning processes in driving disruptive strategies.

You will be able to:

  • Establish the key drivers for change within the global marketplace
  • Apply conclusions from existing disruptive strategies
  • Critically assess organisation capability for change
  • Recommend entrepreneurial strategic change
  • Evaluate approaches to developing an innovation culture
  • Critically assess how innovation can contribute to value creation
