CIM Foundation Certificate in Professional & Digital Marketing

For the CIM Foundation Certificate, there are 1 mandatory and a choice of 1 of 2 elective modules.

If you have completed a Level 3 apprenticeship, you may be exempt from modules and therefore able to complete the CIM Level 3 Foundation Certificate in less time. You can find more information about exemptions here.

Entry criteria and support

  • GCSEs (or equivalent)
  • If English is not your first language, you will need to demonstrate English language proficiency (IELTS Academic Module overall score of 6.5 or equivalent)

You don’t need any marketing experience to complete a CIM Level 3 qualification. 

We recommend a minimum period of 4 months to complete the Foundation Certificate. To allow you to fit studying around other commitments, we offer support for 24 months.

  • Understand the role and function of marketing within organisations and the factors that influence consumer and business buying behaviour.
  • Identify key components of the marketing environment and how to collect and use relevant information about it. 
  • Understand the elements of the marketing mix and how to apply them.

Content and Channels Module:

  • Understand how communications channels are used in marketing
  • Determine the best type of content to use in marketing communications
  • Understand how to choose the most suitable channel(s) and content for a communications campaign
  • You will be assessed by an online multiple-choice question assessment.

Marketing Insights Module:

  • Explain key market research methods and insights Understand the key factors that influence consumer/customer behaviour
  • Understand the customer journey and how it impacts relationships
  • Understand how to conduct a marketing audit to inform decision-making
  • You will be assessed by an online multiple-choice question assessment.
