The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) announced that they were now offering a CIM Extended Qualification from July 2024. This new qualification gives marketers more choice regarding what they study.

If you have been looking at a CIM qualification, and want to see whether a CIM Extended qualification is for you, you’ve come to the right place. We’re going to run through what they are, and why marketers may choose to complete the extended qualification.

What is a CIM extended qualification?

Compared to a CIM qualification, a CIM Extended qualification has one extra elective module. The qualification is recognised globally and shows that your marketing skills are to an industry standard.
The extended qualification is available for CIM levels 3, 4 and 6 in Professional and Digital Marketing.

The top 3 benefits of completing a CIM Extended Qualification

1. Learn extra skills

With an extended qualification, you will complete more modules. Once you have completed the qualification, you will have learnt more topics and have a broader range of skills compared to marketers who completed a standard CIM qualification.

2. You won’t need to pick out of the elective modules

As you need to complete all the modules Cambridge Marketing College offers to gain an extended qualification, you won’t have to decide which modules are best for your next steps. So, there are no difficult decisions!

3. You’ll stand out from the crowd

You will be part of the first people to complete a CIM Extended Qualification in the world. This qualification can help you stand out against the crowd and help with career progression.
