For many apprentices, completing a presentation is part of their End Point Assessment. It's an opportunity to showcase the great work you’ve done.

A key area apprentices are assessed on during their presentation is timing. These presentations need to be completed in a certain timeframe, which is stated in advance.

Sticking to the correct timeframe for your presentation is important. If you’re over or under on your presentation time, it could lead to a fail.

The simplest way to keep on track is to add a timer to your presentation slides. We've created a quick video followed by step-by-step instructions to show you how to add a timer to your End Point Assessment presentation slides.

How to add a timer to your slides

Step-by-step Instructions

  1. On your PowerPoint home page, click 'Add-ins', and select 'Timer for PowerPoint' (you may need to search for it)

2. Your timer will appear on the page

3. You can adjust the time for how long your presentation needs to be

4. Resize and move the timer box to be visible on your slide, but make sure it's not covering any of your presentation content

5. Click 'Start Timer'

6. Start your presentation by clicking 'From Current Slide'

7. Your timer will now appear on the screen as you present
