Jack Thompson's Work Experience: Overview

Hi, I'm Jack Thompson, and I'm a student who has spent a week working at Cambridge Marketing College.

I wanted to share my experience in this article, highlighting what I have learned and why Cambridge Marketing College has inspired me to build my confidence and develop the skills needed to work in the marketing industry.

From day one, I was welcomed into the team and immediately made to feel like a valued member of the organisation. 

Cambridge Marketing College has allowed me to work in a flexible environment where I am able to show my passion for marketing independently and through team discussions. I've learnt new skills and improved my knowledge of creative design platforms commonly used in the industry. 

What I learned at Cambridge Marketing College

Throughout the week, I attended meetings where I gained insight into marketing strategy and participated in conversations about how the organisation could further enhance its social media presence and engagement. This was a great opportunity to see how ideas are developed and implemented within a professional marketing environment.

Many software programs took a few days to get used to, such as Trello, where I would efficiently organise my tasks for the week from my manager. Equally, I found it very interesting to learn about how business emails are created through programs like Zoho. I learned that effective graphic elements play a massive role in capturing attention for your business's target audience.

I created social media content and enhanced my understanding of digital marketing design. Alongside this, I continued to build on my Adobe Photoshop skills by designing potential LinkedIn banners and other promotional materials.

 

 

Working within established brand guidelines taught me the importance of maintaining brand identity while creating engaging and creative content. It challenged me to think strategically about design and communication while ensuring all content aligned with the organisation’s values and visual style.
