Laurie Warren is a marketing consultant, tutor, and digital specialist with over 15 years’ experience across marketing, sales, account management, business consultancy, and education. Her career began in the veterinary pharmaceutical sector, including commercial and consultancy roles with Zoetis, where she worked with major equine, veterinary, and rural business brands.

Laurie now runs Canvas Consultancy, supporting small businesses, charities, community organisations, rural enterprises, and community businesses with marketing strategy, websites, social media, branding, business planning, and practical digital support. She is also a specialist business adviser working with the Plunkett Foundation, supporting community businesses with marketing, business planning, and sustainability-focused development. Her consultancy work often goes beyond marketing, helping organisations clarify their direction, develop business plans, structure steering groups, assign volunteer roles, and strengthen internal capacity.

She has particular experience working with values-led and community-owned organisations, including projects involving sustainable business planning, carbon plans, and carbon literacy-informed strategy. This has included work with businesses on carbon-neutral islands. Laurie is Carbon Literate certified, has completed training in delivering Carbon Literacy education, and is now beginning to offer Carbon Literacy training for community leaders.

Alongside her consultancy work, Laurie teaches and supports learners across marketing apprenticeships and professional marketing qualifications. She has taught across CIM and apprenticeship programmes and has also worked as an examiner for the CIM Diploma in Marketing. Her teaching includes social media marketing, digital tools, campaign planning, and emerging trends, with a strong focus on applying learning to real workplace situations.

Laurie has a strong interest in AI and the changing digital customer journey, including how AI search tools are reshaping the way people find, compare, and choose businesses. She explores how marketers can use AI tools for research, planning, content development, prompt engineering, and digital optimisation, while keeping ethics, sustainability, and human judgement at the centre. She has completed the Mastering AI and Metaverse Marketing course through Cambridge Marketing College, accredited by BCS.

Away from work, Laurie runs a smallholding and is especially interested in sustainable land management, grassland management, soil health, and creating habitats that support wildlife.
