Overview
The AI Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability apprenticeship is a 24-month training programme, followed by up to 6 months to complete the End Point Assessment (EPA). This sustainability apprenticeship combines sustainability planning, stakeholder engagement, and compliance with relevant standards, alongside 30 hours of free AI training. Sustainability apprentices use AI tools to improve efficiency, enhance data analysis, and strengthen sustainability reporting, helping organisations make more informed, evidence-based decisions and improve environmental and social performance.
For businesses, this sustainability apprenticeship builds in-house capability across both sustainability and digital skills, enabling teams to better deliver and manage long-term environmental and social responsibility goals.

Learning platform and resources

Additional short courses
Two free accredited short courses in artificial intelligence (BCS) and sustainability (Carbon Literacy Project).

Learners join an AI community to share ideas, discuss developments, and stay updated on the latest AI trends with peers and experts.
Online learning with expert tutors

What learners will be able to do?
An AI Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability apprentice will gain skills in delivering sustainability and ESG work, including spotting risks and opportunities, using data to measure impact, and supporting reporting. They work with stakeholders, get involved in real projects, and help improve sustainability performance across the business. By the end of the programme, they can support sustainability strategy, strengthen responsible business practices, and contribute to real, measurable environmental and social impact.

Duration and cost
- Duration: 24 months learning and up to 6 months for End Point Assessment (EPA)
- Cost: £12,000
- Funding: Levy-funded or employer-funded. 100% government co-investment for apprentices under the age of 19.
- Weekly commitment: Minimum 6 hours off-the-job training
- Assessment: Portfolio, professional discussion, project report, presentation (identical to the standard Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability apprenticeship)
Employers that do not pay the levy are eligible for 95% government co-investment (except apprentices under the age of 19).
