Melanie is the visionary behind the creation of the The Training Tree, and is its leading director. Coming from a German-English family, she has aspired to an international outlook and involves herself in activities in different parts of the globe. Qualified in marketing after taking an honours degree in Biological sciences at Edinburgh University, she studied international trade, hypnotherapy, psychotherapy, NLP and training. She is committed to social enterprise and encourages all directors and associates of The Training Tree to support such ventures with time and expertise. Mel has spent 14 years in marketing and business development of SMEs ranging across restaurants, associations, manufacturing, document and information management and storage, water purification, self build and Scottish Enterprise programmes for the training and recruitment of long term unemployed and Job coaches. Mel has also spent 10 years training young people. Mel is an ardent member of JCI, taking her local organisation to a world award as Best Chamber in the World 2005. She is currently National President of JCI Scotland, which takes her to various parts of the world to interact with members from the more than 100 countries that make up the organisation. An accomplished speaker, Mel has delivered speeches and presentations in many countries. Mel is also responsible for 5 Scottish Leadership Academies and has Co trained the Russian Leadership Academy. Mel is also a member of the CIM and in addition to her degree in Medical Microbiology also has Overseas Trade Certificates for International Marketing and International Trade and Payments (1995), Physical Distribution (1999) and International Trade Law (2000) and a Certificate in Management. Mel teaches at our Edinburgh Study Centre.
