Lucy is heading off to do environmental conservation work in the Perhentian Islands - a small group of beautiful, coral-fringed islands off the coast of north-eastern Malaysia. Her trip is being organised through Biodiversity Business, a social enterprise dedicated to creating shared value for biodiversity.

At the same time, Lucy is being sponsored to study for her marketing qualifications by us as part of an internship programme. With a degree in Biology from Nottingham University, Lucy became interested in marketing while working for the Leeds University Students’ Union as a sports events communications assistant.

Lucy’s Asia trip will last for six months, taking in Indonesia and Malaysia, during which she will be working on a variety of projects in the local community including sea turtle conservation and marine research. She’ll also be creating a marketing plan for a local conservation project, and keeping a blog of her adventures.

“I’m really looking forward to doing something so valuable.” says Lucy. “The work that Biodiversity Business does is very important for the sustainability of wildlife in the region.”

“We are proud to be able to support our interns through their studies.” said Kiran Kapur, CEO of CMC. “We keenly recognise the growing importance of environmental issues to marketing in the future.”
