Which Course?

 There are a host of professional qualifications on offer and it can be confusing selecting the right course. To choose the right course for you there are 2 key considerations:

  • whether you want to develop your career in Product/Service Marketing Management or in Marketing Communications/PR; and
  • your current level of qualifications and experience

If you want to work in marketing management then the CIM courses are the best place to start. However, if you want to specialise then the CAM qualifications are best for marketing communications and digital marketers and the CIPR courses for PR.

Equivalent qualifications, credits and experience make a difference but as a rough guide:

CIM Introductory Certificate

CIPR Foundation Award

A degree but not in business or marketing

CIM Professional Certificate and Specialist Pathways

CIM Diploma in Hospitality & Tourism

CAM Diploma in Marketing Communications

CAM Digital Diplomas

CIPR Advanced Certificate

A business or marketing degree (with at least 1/3 of the credits from marketing) or at least 3 year’s experience in marketing

CIM Professional Diploma and Specialist Pathways

A business or marketing degree or masters degree (with at least ½ of the credits from marketing) or experience working at senior level.

CIM Postgraduate Diploma

CIPR Diploma
