Meet the tutors
Rachel has been in blue chip Marketing Communications for more than 20 years and has worked with some of the nation’s best known and loved brands including Celador, BBC, Tefal, Smirnoff, Marks and Spencer and Saatchi & Saatchi. She is fascinated by brand behaviour, consumers and how the two interact.
Her career kicked off as a runner in an advertising agency. This led to working at PR agencies in London launching brands like Bombay Sapphire Gin and helping Patak’s Indian Food become the fastest growing Brand in Britain through PR alone.
A stint for Smirnoff in London and Toronto for Saatchi led to Rachel being placed in a series of high profile Interim positions in the 90s. She was Internal Communications Partner at the BBC when Greg Dyke controversially came in to shake things up, Marketing Manager at Malmaison as the business was geared for sale and Marketing Manager at M&S responsible for creating their first eCommerce strategy. Rachel created the consumer hot shop the BIG partnership in Edinburgh and delivered policy changing government to consumer campaigns, along with brand transformations for Whyte & Mackay and Grolsch. As Head of Marketing at Celador she oversaw the launch of one of the most successful British films ever made; Slumdog Millionaire.
Rachel now consults to the largest non-fiction publisher in the world on route-to-market strategies and has a raft of clients for whom she provides strategic marketing advice and action. She also does pro bono work for the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in London and anti-Human Trafficking charity, Unseen.
When not tutoring at CMC she is devoted to her family, her mad dogs and teaching Scuba Diving. Rachel is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
