James Townsend

After completing his Business Studies degree at the University of Plymouth in 2003, James worked in the Not for Profit sector as well as two FTSE 250 companies before going agency side and joining McCann Erickson working in their Bristol office.

At McCann James gained several years experience working in both direct marketing & brand response environments. He has a vast amount of experience running large multi-channel campaigns, from inception to implementation, across both acquisition and retention. His philosophy to his success is simple, but effective - James is a strong believer in the benefits of using insight to provide compelling creative work that delights customers and most importantly contributes to their bottom line.

James now works for another top 20 UK agency which happens to be the largest UK agency outside of London - Bray Leino. He is an Account Director with responsibility for 2 of the agencies largest accounts - The Royal Mint and Axa Sun Life Direct. This, coupled with his broad experience across other finance clients such as AIG, Barclays, In Retirement Services, Bank of Ireland, Bristol & West and Giraffe mortgages to non-finance clients such as Cable & Wireless, Kodak, Essilor, UKRD and Tenovus gives him the advantage of being able to draw on multiple sectors when tutoring.

Prior to joining our tutoring team in 2008 James studied for both the CIM Professional Diploma and Postgraduate Diploma with the College. He teaches the Sales Promotion & Direct Marketing module of the CAM Diploma and is a Chartered Marketer.
