Meet the tutors
Harry has nearly 20 years’ experience in general/marketing management consultancy and training. He has worked in the public sector, academic world, manufacturing and services sectors with scores of SMEs and major international companies including Philips, IBM, BT, Nokia, Pall, DHL, Michelin, PII, Invitrogen, GIC Global, Frost & Sullivan and Siemens. He has extensive experience of new product identification, sales and marketing and management in high technology medical equipment.
Harry’s early experience was primarily in research and development, especially in steel manufacturing and in nuclear medicine. He worked in pharmaceutical sales, sales training and sales management. Following the successful introduction of medical laser instrumentation on behalf of a major international company, he was appointed Sales and Marketing Manager with responsibility for starting up and growing an international business in high technology medical instrumentation (covering US, Western Europe, Japan, COMECON).
He was appointed Marketing Director in a market leading electronic controls company with specific responsibility for strategic management, new product marketing and development for UK and international markets (US, USSR). During this period he initiated numerous major new business development projects.
Harry has delivered training programmes for corporates in the UK, EC, North America and China and is a regular presenter at the CIM. He also works regularly with growth-oriented SMEs. In addition to his training work, Harry is director of several small companies including high technology, medical devices and Pricing Consultancy.
Harry has degrees and other qualifications in chemistry, mathematics, marketing and general management. He is a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Marketing and the Institute of Management Consultants and is past Chairman of the Scottish Branch of the Strategic Planning Society. He lives in Scotland and teaches at our Edinburgh Study Centre.
