David Kilburn


David’s early career was spent in the retail industry where he held senior positions in both independent and national companies and developed particular expertise in marketing, finance and strategy. He was recruited by Bournemouth University to help establish and develop a new degree in Retail Management in 1989. The course has produced 6 Chief Executives and 48 main Board Directors and boasts a proud record of 100% graduate employment year on year.

In his academic career David has developed expertise in retail marketing, high quality consultancy teaching and has regularly attended international conferences to give academic papers in English, Spanish and Portuguese. In a high profile conference in Brazil, he gave a paper on Senior Tourism entirely in Portuguese and was voted second best presenter out of 25 international participants.

In the past 5 years he has generated business worth £1.5 million with a profit of £500,000, written 11 successful KTP bids and project managed a range of major applied research projects. David is a member of the CIM and a Chartered Marketer.

I just wanted to advise that my study books have arrived today. Wow! That’s very impressive. I wasn’t expecting such a volume of professionally presented publications and study aids as part of the fee - this already way surpasses the support I experienced with a previous marketing college, and I haven’t even logged in to my course yet!
