David Earp

     

David Earp has been a lecturer and distance learning tutor for CMC since 1995. He has a background covering over 25 years in international business with a breadth of knowledge covering consumer and industrial products and services.  He has held international management positions in such industries as wines and spirits with Grand Metropolitan (now Diageo), design engineering (Oce), computer graphics and document management (Xerox), plastics and coatings (ICI) and electronics (GEC).  He also has experience of international trade development in his current role with UK Trade & Investment.  David developed the model for UK Trade & Investment’s Passport to Export service for novice exporters.

David acts as an adviser and consultant in the East of England developing local organisations’ capability to exploit international opportunities in a variety of sectors.  Previously, as an international marketing consultant, David developed strategies for companies such as Xerox in Russia and Rexam in Eastern Europe.  In 1994 he presented one of the first marketing papers identifying the key influences the Internet would have on international marketing.

David is an active member of the local branch of the Institute of Export and the CIM Cambridgeshire Branch responsible for promoting the two professions and organising key events and seminars. Additionally David is active with the Global Trade Network, which is dedicated to sharing international marketing knowledge.  He holds an MA in Export Marketing and was one of the first to achieve Chartered Marketer status.  He is also a graduate member of and examiner for The Institute of Export.
