Alan Gallop
Alan is an award-winning PR consultant, freelance journalist and author. He worked for 12 years for a national news reporting agency before entering PR to handle travel and transportation accounts.
He founded Guidelines Public Relations Limited in 1983 and since that time has handled a range of accounts including the national tourism boards of New Zealand, Spain, Hawaii, Bulgaria and two Caribbean islands. He has also represented companies active in public utilities, airlines, international airports and seaports. He was awarded a “PR Means Business Award” by the CIPR. Alan has recently conducted major PR projects in Finland, the UAE and Malaysia. His work covers most aspects of PR representation including media relations, event management, crisis management, creating copy for brochures, websites and corporate videos, producing corporate printed material and writing key-note speeches for clients at home and abroad.
He is author of seven popular history books covering subjects including child labour in Victorian coal mines, a history of Heathrow Airport and Buffalo Bill. Alan Gallop believes that PR is an essential (and often undersold) component of the overall media mix and is a great believer in using true-life scenarios and good humour to make his PR course sessions meaningful. Alan is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR).
