New Member of the College Team
Having spent the past 16 years in the USA, most recently living in Vermont, my wife Alison and I moved back to the UK so she can finish her graduate studies at Cambridge University. I recently joined CMC/CMR and am over the moon to have done so. My role here will be to pick up some of the marketing & editorial work left by Sarah’s impending maternity leave, edit the Cambridge Marketing Review, and to cultivate and curate (and research) social media operations for the college and for the CM Review.
I am a native of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, and attended college in the United States, in Evansville, Indiana on a soccer scholarship. Following university I spent almost 11 year in Washington D.C. working for a national news organization as part of their online editorial staff. My interests include football (both playing and coaching ... mostly coaching now as I am OLD), trail running, squash and generally being outdoors.
If interested I can be followed here www.twitter.com/teachcoachcraig and reached here craig@marketingcollege.com.

Pavitt’s Pies Founded by College Alumnus
A Cambridge Marketing College alumnus has founded a catering business in Cambridge.
Pavitt's Pies of Cambridge offers homemade pies for delivery to shops and homes, and events catering. Inside their flaky pastry crusts are traditional English fillings and modern twists on the classics.
Founder Carri Pavitt launched the business in August 2011, having previously worked in the Marketing Division of Cambridge Assessment. She spent eight months researching her products and market, and has been rewarded with growing sales.
Carri finds that one of the most enjoyable things about starting her own business is "Being able to manage the whole scope of a business, rather than just one small element, and the motivation that delivers on a daily basis.
An alumnus of the College, Carri graduated from CMC in September 2009. She says of the courses: "My CIM Qualifications have given me the confidence to be able to develop a strong business plan and the tools to implement this plan."
Carri studied the forerunner to the Professional Diploma, and then the Chartered Postgraduate Diploma; she gained knowledge of the essential marketing theory that she needed when an early temporary job turned into a full-time marketing position.
Now that Carri is taking her skills and experience and striking out as her own boss, Cambridge Marketing Colleges wish her the best of luck - and can confirm that the pies are delicious!

Cambridge Marketing Review Issue 1
There has long been a great gap in the market for a quality professional journal of marketing. Cambridge Marketing Review, the journal for the marketing practitioner, can now fill that gap.
We believe that marketing, as a sector, does not command the respect it deserves. This is illustrated by the limited numbers of marketers on the boards of major companies and the lack of understanding of the importance of marketing. Furthermore, we believe that the absence of a high-quality marketing journal has been both a cause and a symptom of this.
Cambridge Marketing Review aspires to provide the basis for the future acceptance of marketing as a business fundamental and a respected career path.It is predominantly directed at marketers in middle to senior management roles, to assist them in their efforts to do a better job. The publication aims to promote thoughtful debate through the consideration of contemporary research and ideas, and through reflection on accepted practices.
Issue one features articles on a range of marketing topics, including our in-depth focus on providing real value for customers. These include:
- How to build a brand like Pixar makes movies, by Peter Fisk
- A profile of Mobas, the integrated brand, design and digital agency
- A history of brands, by Laurie Young
- Understanding and appreciating green marketing, by Nigel Bradley
- An exclusive extract from Value-Based Pricing, by Harry Macdivitt and Mike Wilkinson
- Marketing strategy in times of uncertainty, by Paul Fifield
Become a fan of CMR on Facebook to download your complimentary digital edition of Issue 1 for iPad/PDF.
Cambridge Marketing Review is published quarterly. Alumni and delegates of Cambridge Marketing College receive a complementary copy of each issue.
