CIM/CAM Exemption Policy

There are a number of exemptions available for the CAM Digital Diplomas and Diploma in Marketing Communications. Please note that fees apply. The full exemption policy and guidance on how to apply for an exemption can be found on the CAM Foundation website here.

Diploma in Marketing Communications:

• An exemption is available for the Marketing and Consumer Behaviour module if you hold at least a level 4 Professional Certificate in Marketing (or equivalent) or a degree with sufficient relevant marketing content.*

OR

• An exemption is available for the Public Relations module if you hold the CIPR’s Diploma in PR.

All Digital Diplomas:

• An exemption is available for the Marketing and Consumer Behaviour module if you hold at least a level 4 Professional Certificate in Marketing (or equivalent) or a degree with sufficient relevant marketing content.*

OR

• An exemption is available for the Digital Marketing Essentials module if you hold the IDM’s Diploma (post 2007).

Diploma in Digital Marketing:

• The CIM’s E-Marketing Award (post 2006) is accepted as an alternative (not an exemption) to the Digital Marketing Planning module. (This means you do not have to study the module and there is no exemption fee)

Diploma in Managing Digital Media:

• Exemptions are available for the Advertising and Public Relations modules if you hold the CAM Diploma in Marketing Communications

• An exemption is available for the Public Relations module  if you hold the CIPR’s Diploma in PR.

* The CIM will assess the content of your course to ensure that it meets their criteria. You will need to send a copy of your degree certificate and transcript (which lists the subjects you have studied). A copy of the syllabus may also be required.

It can take a few weeks to receive a decision so, if you believe you are exempt, please continue with your application to the College on that basis (rather than delaying your application). Should the exemption not be granted, you may enrol to study the additional module separately at a later date.

I just wanted to advise that my study books have arrived today. Wow! That’s very impressive. I wasn’t expecting such a volume of professionally presented publications and study aids as part of the fee - this already way surpasses the support I experienced with a previous marketing college, and I haven’t even logged in to my course yet! As we know, customer experience is paramount and, as a new student and ‘client’, the CMC has made me feel very valued indeed. Thank you. Looking forward to my bedtime reading! Many thanks indeed.
