The Advanced Certificate
This is aimed at graduates and those with two or more years work experience and interested in pursuing careers in public relations.
The Advanced Certificate level involves investigating case histories in workshops with visiting practitioners and by reference to recommended texts. Students will also be expected to draw on information to build case histories, and find evidence for practical examples from a wide range of daily newspapers, the broadcast media, magazines, journals and specialist publications. They will also be required to create a diary of their professional development which they can carry forward throughout their working lives.
The Advanced Certificate provides a basic knowledge and understanding of the theory and practice of PR in order to assist delegates in developing as efficient and effective PR executives. The Course is taught over eight Saturday sessions over 8 months and is assessed through a written exam, case study assignment and a portfolio of work in PR.

Heather Yaxley is an excellent tutor. I can’t say that enough. She is very approachable and her supportive emails in between lectures are a good morale booster. We are encouraged to challenge our own ideas and learn through our own reflection, rather than being dictated to. There is always a relaxed atmosphere in class, with no fear of ridicule or embarrassment when we make mistakes. The learning materials are easily accessible and detailed enough for our study.

The College fee for this course is £1200 + VAT = £1410. There is also a one off Carriage fee of £30 for the UK. You will also need to budget for the CIPR membership and assessment fees of £780 (no VAT).
